Anyway, all you need is a plastic cup and a flat surface.
 
I will try to write out instructions, but here's an awesome tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5zuY4Nprk0 It's very thorough and it's what I used to learn the cup song.
 
Here's my written instructions.
1. Clap twice.
2. Tap the table three times. Left, right, left, or right left right. It doesn't matter.
3. Clap once
4. Pick up the cup and move it to the left, and place it back down.
5. Clap once
6. Now right after clapping you will take your left hand, twist it, and grab the cup. Rotate the cup, hit your right palm with it, then hit the table, go up, and transfer the cup to your right hand. Now you put your hands on the table BUT first you put your left hand on the table, then right.
